lazy

Did you know that laziness is not usually something that comes along on its own?  Typically, something causes you to have that lack of motivation that keeps you from being productive. You can also use the best essay writing service to be more motivated and productive. Laziness can put you into a funk, and can really hinder your overall quality of life if you allow it to.

Figuring out the cause of your laziness is important.  There are a lot of different feelings that can inhibit laziness.  A few of them include:

  • feeling overwhelmed
  • being worried or afraid
  • having a lack of inspiration
  • dealing with pain or emotional distress

No matter what is causing your laziness, you will want to find a way to overcome it.  Here are 12 habits that can help to stop your laziness.

1. Eat a Healthy Diet

Many times, people are lazy because they do not have the energy to do anything.  This can be caused by a lack of a nutritious diet.  Consider your diet, and try to eat healthy foods that help to fuel your body.  This can help to give you more energy to get up and get things done.

2. Get a Good Night of Sleep

Getting enough sleep at night is also really important.  If you aren’t getting restful sleep, then chances are you will not really feel like doing much of anything.  Being tired can often times make us feel like we are just being lazy.  Get enough sleep each night, and you may see that you get more done during the day.

3. Try to Rid Yourself of Distractions

Distractions are definitely the procrastinator’s worst enemy.  Just about anything can distract us if we are really not focused on our task.  Staying focused and eliminating distractions is a key to staying on task.  If something is a distraction, try to make sure it is out of sight, out of mind.

4. Don’t Bite Off More Than You Can Chew

Since being overwhelmed can cause us to get lazy in an attempt to run from everything that we have to do, it is important to not take on more than you can handle.  Don’t be afraid to say no to people if you have to.  Sometimes people just tend to ask so much of us, but it is okay to say no sometimes.  Try to only take on what you can handle.

5. Try to Stick to a Routine

Another great way to prevent yourself from being lazy is to set up a routine and stick with it.  If you want to get things done during the day, then you may need to plan your day out ahead of time.  This can keep you focused and on track with your goals for the day.

6. Set Some Goals and Work Towards Them

Laziness can keep us from reaching our goals, that’s for sure.  This is why we need to be more goal-oriented.  If you set some attainable goals and focus on ways that you can work towards them, then you can really combat laziness.

7. Figure Out What Motivates You

Everyone has something that motivates them to work a little harder or go the extra mile.  Figure out what it is that motivates you.  For many, it is their children.  For some, it is money, or freedom, or flexibility.  If you figure out what motivates you, and let that be your motivator when you are feeling lazy, it can be helpful.

8. Don’t Put Off ‘Til Tomorrow What You Can Do Today

This is something that your mom probably told you growing up (unless, of course, she was a procrastinator herself).  Procrastinating is really just a way of avoiding doing something until you absolutely have to.  This can result in laziness.  If something can be done today, why not go ahead and get it over with?

9. Take Baby Steps

If you are pretty much just a couch potato, you don’t want to just jump up and run a marathon.  Take some baby steps towards not being lazy anymore.  You don’t have to work nonstop, just take a few steps in the right direction to help get you motivated to keep going.  Set some small goals to get you started, and stick with them.

10. Understand the Importance of Taking Breaks

Taking breaks does not mean that you are lazy.  Breaks are actually really important.  If you work, work, work without taking breaks, then you will burn yourself out quickly.  This is why most businesses require their employees to take breaks regularly.  Scheduling in breaks can keep you from just giving up entirely and giving into a life of laziness.

11. Think About Your Future

It is a little more difficult to be lazy if you are thinking about your future.  Chances are, if you are lazy, you will not make much progress for your future.  Do you see yourself in a different place five or ten years from now?  If so, then let that motivate you to not be lazy.  Tie this in with those goals that you set, and you can really make a lot of improvement on the lazy scale.

12. Plan a Lazy Day

Treat yourself every now and then with a lazy day.  Just because you want to avoid being lazy doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take a day every now and then and just treat yourself to a day of doing nothing.  This is a great way to reboot and reenergize to keep yourself going strong.  Lay around, binge your favorite shows, and spend the whole day doing not much of anything.  This is okay, as long as you do it in moderation.  It can actually be healthy.

Laziness is actually something that will drag you down and keep you there if you let it.  If you fall into the trap of being lazy and procrastinating on responsibilities, it can really make your life a lot more stressful.  Avoid this by using these tips to keep you motivated and help to keep you from being lazy.

Having a routine is such a big deal. If you can make a routine and actually keep it, then your life will become so much easier and less stressful. Procrastination is the biggest weakness in college student. Do not set it aside for tomorrow if you can do it today!
