It’s that one sneaky area we all secretly, or some not so secretly, devote all of our workout attention to – the waistline and abs. It can seem like a hard area to tame, and especially to maintain, but there are a few important steps to take before you can work your way to that Victoria’s Secret angel stomach!

Perfect abs start in the kitchen

This is something my trainer always tells me. Everyone has abs, they are just mostly hidden under layers of fat over your stomach muscle. The first step to a great stomach is what you put inside it – stick with lean proteins, healthy fruits and vegetables, drink lots of water!

Hit the gym

Working out is an integral part of the process of slimming down your waistline. Dieting alone is only half of the battle, there is still a requirement of regular exercise and abdominal work to both maintain and strengthen your core.

As your core gets stronger you will notice a difference in other areas of your workout – your core is one of the most used muscle groups in your body, it helps you to balance, have a better posture, run better, and to generally perform better in any athletic pursuit.

There are two fitness ingrediants necessary to great abs, the first is core and the second is cardio. Cardiovascular training helps to burn fat buildup on your stomach. The two together are a great combination to get your ideal stomach!

Embrace the bosu ball

A great tool for working your core is a balance ball or a bosu ball. Exercises using a balance ball are great for working different parts of your core at once, both your abdominals and lower back. The key is finding balance, and crunching while keeping as much of your back off of the ball as possible. There are also so many bosu ball exercises that you won’t get bored, the thrill factor is much higher than regular floor crunches.

seriously guys? I think the girl in the picture looks awesome, and anorexic? looks like the girls got some serious muscles

  2. avatar Jealous says:

No need to make fun of someone that is skinny. Jealous.

  3. And how far is that pictured girl from death? Or perhaps there’s a conspiracy among those who can use Photoshop to try and get teenage/college girls to starve themselves. Neh? I don’t care how much you paid for the use of that stock photo. It’s pretty gross.

I’m confused! Usually you guys post really great, cute pictures that relate to the article perfectly. But this time you picked a girl who looks like she should be in a hospital. Promote health, not eating disorders. This doesn’t look like a girl who’s just naturally thin, she looks way underweight.

I believe that the girl you are using to advertise this post is way too skinny and giving girls the wrong impression of what they ‘should’ look like.

  6. avatar GirlP says:

Ummm… I like the post, but that picture is basically like “thinspo”, that girl is waaaay too thin and its not healthy to encourage that to your readers!!

  7. avatar Madi says:

Good tips, but next time, post a picture of a girl who looks healthy and fit, not anorexic.
