When it comes to stress… it’s just that time of the semester. Instead of letting it drag out and consume even a second more of your life, kick stress to the curb by trying the following three methods!

Chew gum. Simple, but effective, according to English and Australian researchers who found that people who chewed gum when feeling anxious had 18 percent less cortisol in their saliva. Because chewing gum can increase blood flow to the brain, people feel more alert, and thus less prone to immobilizing stress and anxiety.

Write it out. A study in 2010 showed that writing about the stressful event for 20 minutes on two different days minimized stress levels. Expressing emotion through writing and organizing thoughts can make an event seem more manageable, and you may find some insight on the pages that you didn’t know you had!

Drink black tea. Black tea is packed with antioxidants, and has chemical compounds that affect neurotransmitters in the brain in a way that allows us to relax. On top of that, a study conducted by University College London found that people who drank four servings a day for six weeks had lower levels of cortisol, and were able to release stress faster.

Actually I was told neither black or green when in stress because the caffeine in black and green makes the heart pound faster. But camomile tea helps with stress

I’ve been dealing with a lot of stress lately. I was told not to drink black tea and instead drink green. The caffeine in black tea will add to stress so it is not worth drinking for the potential benefit.
