Bikini

It’s a great time of year to be outside, take a trip and hit the beach, or bring out that “so college” inflatable pool. Regardless of your proximity to water, the perfect bikini zone is a vital part of embracing swimsuit season. While we already filled you in on the best ways to shave your entire bikini area, we wanted to focus on bump prevention on the most sensitive area of your shave – the bikini line.

Exfoliate and Prep

You know what they say, the best offense is a good defense. The same can be true for preventing bump breakouts! Before you shave, make sure you exfoliate and use a moisturizing shave cream. If you don’t have moisturizing shaving cream on hand, use your conditioner – anything is better than bar soap!

Opt for moisturizing shave cream over  your regular body wash or bar soap, as they can leave an uneven residue on the skin which can cause you to miss a spot, or cause the razor to be less effective after the blades pick up the soapy residue and become slick. Also, always make sure you use a new blade for each shave, and always shave with the grain of the hair.

Deodorant

One of the best kept secrets about trimming your bikini line is to apply deodorant right after you shave. No fancy deodorant necessary, just make sure to get a separate stick from the one you use on your arms and always clean it after you’re finished. Also, avoid gel deodorants, as they could leave deodorant marks on your bikini if you put it on before it fully dries.

Black Tea

Another great secret to getting rid of annoying bikini line bumps: look no further than black tea. Black tea is a natural anti-inflammatory, and thus will help to banish those bumps for good. Simply brew some black tea and store in the fridge or throw in some ice cubes to keep it chilled, then apply it on your bikini line after shaving with a cotton ball while it’s still cold.

Neosporin

Applying Neosporin soon after you shave is another great way to eliminate razor bumps as a preventative measure, it works fast to stop the bumps before they form. The great thing about this option is that Neosporin is a medicine cabinet staple, there’s always a tube laying nearby. Put it to good use and apply a minute or two after shaving for a smooth and bump-free bikini line.

Aloe Vera Gel

Honestly, is there anything aloe can’t do? It’s a great moisturizer, helps heal sunburns, and can also both prevent and heal bikini line bumps. The trick is that it’s packed with moisture, which the sensitive skin around the bikini line will soak in immediately to help eliminate razor irritation. Plus, you’ll feel smoother afterward without smelling like salicylic or glycolic acid, which are in many post-shave treatments.

Ask any dermatologist and they will tell you to never ever ever use Neosporin on anything unless you want to end up in the hospital with cellulitis. I don’t even keep it in my house anymore. It is horrible.

Sources? Cause I’ve never heard of such a thing.

A web search shows even the mayoclinic uses Neosporin to treat cellulitis. Neosporin has been linked to spreading mrsa, but it was not the cause of your initial infection.

What works for me the best before epilating the bikini area (talking about full brazilian): apply Johnson baby oil gel a few hours before you want to start hair removal. Another good product: Nads Ingrown Hair solution. Apply it a few minutes before, to clean the area. Straight after hair removal apply the baby oil gel, or Sudocream, then Nads about 12 hrs later. I use Nads twice a day, and put Sudocream on before going to bed. No ingrown hair or razor bumps, I swear! It took me many years to find the recipe to get the smoothest results. Epilating the whole area really hurts in the beginning, but becomes a normal routine by time. Unfortunately it does not last long, as the hair grows in many stages, so I repeat it like twice a week, but the hair is always soft, and never stubbly

I’ve tried a lot of remedies and what works best I found out to prevent ingrown hairs or razor rashes add 5 drops of 100% of tea tree oil to 2 tablespoons of water (or add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil to 1 tablespoon of Olive oil) use one of the two diluted options and apply to any area you just shaved. Leave on 10 mins for the tea tree oil & water dilution or 10-15 mins and then rinse with lukewarm water. for the tea tree oil and Olive oil dilution and then rinse it off. It works great! Also works for under arm shaving to prevent ingrown hairs or razor rash too! If you’ve never used tea tree oil apply the mix to your wrist first leave on 5-10 mins to test sensitivity to tea tree oil. If sensitive to it use 2-3 drops instead of 5 drops with the 2 tablespoons of water. Or use the tea tree oil and Olive oil combo. Also for great vaginal health add 5 drops to your bottle of feminine wash for your V shake well every time you use it . It works wonders for preventing infections or Ph balance and to regulate the good/bad bacteria balance of that area and great for use after having sex too. I swear by all this I personally do all the remedies.

Rubbing alcohol works too. It stings like a female dog for a minute, and some people can’t handle it, but it works.

  9. avatar Jessie says:

I little bit of hand sanitizer works too! It stings a little, but it’s cheap, it’s convenient, and it works!

    Hey guys!!
i have recently discovered my routine for shaving down south. so not long ago heard if your skin is itchy and irritated from shaving, like anywhere, to use a bit of oil. it can be any oil which is kinda icky but it works. and yes its oily so just enough to cover skin.

    so my routine:
warm bath water, soak for a few minutes, dampen area with a wash cloth. apply gel shave, evenly spread out everywher
shave side to side. when your done and if you miss a spot REAPPLY GEL. then rinse and very cold water, when dry: use deodarent then wash cloth to apply a tad bit of oil rub off then more deodarent. worked for me already starting to see a difference. hope i was helpful to some of you

oh and with my routine, i also add aloe vera if i ever get the bumps :)
