Despite the glamorization of summer in the media, let’s be honest, with all of the humidity, sweat, and fried hair it’s not hard to feel less than your best with or without a touch of makeup. Read on for some great alternatives that can help you feel bronzed and beautiful all season long.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
If wearing makeup is the way you want to go, whether it be for a night out or a day trip, setting your makeup with a setting spray is a sure fire way to keep it from either caking up or melting off. While there are many sprays out there, a cult classic is the Urban Decay All Nighter formula. If you have oily skin opt for the “Chill” formula. Model In A Bottle is another cult favorite. Spray four spritzes in a cross pattern after your makeup is completely done. Beware looking down or high up after you spray, it can cause those irritating mascara dots!
Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil
While this product is on the more expensive side, retailing for about $46 a bottle, because of its effectiveness, purity, and versatility it can be well worth the investment. The oil is pressed from the Maracuja fruit in the Amazon and purified. To use, drop about 4-5 drops onto your palms, gently rub your palms together, and either pat on your face for a potent moisturizer, anti-age and anti-breakout weapon, or rub on the ends of your hair after towel drying for beautiful, soft, and shiny ends. I know for those of us with oily and breakout-prone skin using a facial oil can be daunting, but unlike Argan oil it does not sit on the face and has even been shown to clear acne and redness. I myself was turned into a believer… don’t knock it until you try it!
Brazilian True Tan
For a great sunless tan – because who needs skin damage and wrinkles? – Brazilian True Tan is a great product because it also exfoliates and moisturizes all in one. It also boasts a streak-free formula.
Bobbi Brown BB creams
If tinted moisturizers were never your cup of tea, try Bobbi Brown’s BB cream, which is great or many different skin types, even combination to oily! The best perk is that is comes in many different shades, so there is no need to buy two and mix. BB stands for beauty balm, and the foundation tends to be more sheer and is also infused with both primer and moisturizer.
Essie Neons Nail Polish Collection, 2013
This year Essie Nail Polish released its new line of neon nail polish, which is a fun choice for summer. There’s a stunning bright pink called Bottle Service, an orange called Saturday Disco Fever, and a purple called DJ Play That Song, among others. Great for toes too if you have an internship or job that isn’t compatible with bright nails.
EOS lip balm
It’s almost all organic, found at most drug stores and CVS pharmacies, it’s only a few bucks, and it comes in a cute egg shape container… what more could you ask for in a light summer lip balm?

Whether you’re looking for the perfect countour shade or looking to add a little sunkissed finish to your complexion, the Smashbox Bronze Lights Bronzer is worth the investment.
