We’re nearly half way into December, and it’s only getting colder from here on out. What does that mean for us? Our fight against dry skin! What is more of a moment-ruiner than cuddling up in front of a cozy fire with your significant other, and rubbing cracked feet together. Don’t let that be you… read on.

Wear gloves when you go out. Prevention is once of the best ways to tackle the dry skin problem. Wearing gloves to protect your hands from the wind and harsh cold will save you a lot of time, and lotion! There are also spa lotion gloves that you can sleep in that will make your hands feel soft and new!

Apply lotion once you’re fresh out of the shower. After taking a hot shower your pores are open and receptive, and if you just shaved your skin is going to be begging for a little moisture fix. As soon as you towel off, don’t waste another second before putting lotion on! Your pores best absorb the lotion right after the heat exposure. Also, try not to keep the water temperature too high, you don’t want to lose any excess moisture or strip your skin of natural oils that it needs this season.

Exfoliate. As long as you apply lotion after, exfoliating your skin is essential. By removing dead skin you make sure the moisture sinks into the skin cells that need it the most! Not to mention, you won’t get those dreaded flakes.

Avoid hand sanitizer. While this is the time of year that tests your immune system the most, hand sanitizers are known to chap skin. The alcohol in hand sanitizers strip your skin of moisture. There are formulas for healthy skin and added moisture, like Gold Bond, that are a better option.
