It's people who don't compromise there beliefs that will earn the respect of others. College is fun and should be a great experience for everyone. I had pressure issues my first year as a transfer but stuck to my beliefs and at first people did not like it but then I earned respect and many began to appreciate me for who I am. The pressure is greater than that in high school. In high school a virgin girl was referred to as a prude, a religious fanatic or some other non-complimentary nickname. It was easy to brush it off. College simplifies things in a way and you get referred to as frigid, a cold fish or a lesbian. Making adjustment being away from home and friends is hard enough. Fortunately at my school academics are held in high regard so skipping class unnecessarily is not an issue. I am facing these issues now. The pressure is greater than that in high school.
