I recently did a post on staying sober while at parties or bars over at College Fashion, and was blown away by the support it got! I was so excited to find out how many girls out there were like me, and rarely or never drank alcohol. In light of this new revelation, I decided to embrace my occassional-drinker side and share with you my three favourite mocktails. Mocktails work great as a buffer drink (so people don’t question you for not drinking), plus they taste great and look just as cute as your typical mixed drink. Read on for the recipes:

Summer Sunset

A twist on the tequila sunrise, pour a splash of grenadine over ice in a tall glass. Shake together equal parts lemon-lime pop (like Sprite, or 7Up) and orange juice. Add the mixture to the tall glass and garnish with a slice of orange on the rim. Yum!

Jill and Coke

Forget the Jack, you can make your regular cola a lot more interesting with a few additives. First, pour your cola over ice in a tall glass. Next, get a jar of maraschino cherries and drain a couple of tablespoons of the juice they come in into the cola. To finish, stir in some fresh-squeeze lime or lemon juice (or both) and garnish with a cherry.

Cool Colada

Buy a premixed pina colada mixture (make sure it’s sans-alcohol), and blend 1 cup of it in a blender with 1 cup of ice. Add 1/4 a cup of pineapple juice and blend well. Rim your glass with sugar before pouring in the creamy concoction and garnishing with a wedge of fresh pineapple (and one of those mini umbrellas, if you’ve got ’em!)

What Do You Think?

Are you a non-drinker? What are your favourite non-alcoholic mixed drinks? Try some of these and leave a comment to let me know how they turn out!

These are awesome =) Not only is being sober a good way to guarantee your sanity in the morning, it’s also a good way to skip the extra alcoholic calories in my eyes
