Listen up ladies! Christmas is almost here! If you haven’t decided on what you are wearing for this occasion, here are some tips to keep in mind of what not to do.

Hideous Christmas Sweater:

Sorry grandma, but unless you want to be tagged on Facebook in a lumpy, festive catastrophe I suggest you leave it in the back of your closet. However, if you receive this as a gift, be sure to remain your classy self and say thank you.

Anything Revealing:

Usually, Christmas is spent with your family. These are people who would rather see your lovely self and not that distracting low-cut top. To fix this, put tights/leggings under a short skirt or a cute blazer/sweater over a low cut top. Also, it’s winter girls so cover up!

Underdress:

When in doubt, always overdress. Wearing your college sweatshirt with your yoga pants stuffed into Uggs will not cut it. If your Christmas is more casual, wear a pair of dark jeans with a cute top or sweater.

Black velvet is never wrong. Even well cut slacks that are velvet, velveteen or even satin or silk are very appropriate. (Not leggings though) Paired with a sparkly or silk top or dressy jacket, you are set for events that are more “formal dress) (theatre, ballet, dressy work party settings).
Many companies (such as Talbots for example) make holiday colors slacks that can really be dressed up based on what top you wear. For family parties, New jeans or narrow khakis paired with a dressy sweater or other finer top are fine. Sorry but I agree, too casual is too casual.
And NO ONE wants to see your Mariah Careys on Christmas!

I think it really depends on your holiday plans. Going to a formal party? Then that dress is totally appropriate (plus I see nothing wrong with that dress to begin with). Hanging at home with the fam? Better believe I’d be in sweats. I probably wouldn’t even make it to the Uggs. Ugly sweater? What other day can you fool around with an ugly sweater? I would totally rock the sweater just to be funny and cheery. Plus, there might be an Ugly Sweater Party. Not a fan of this list.
