Between rainy days, end of term essays, and the looming exam season, this is the time of year that every college girl could use a little pick-me-up. Why not take on one of my Spring beauty dares to update your look and bring some playfulness into your day? Read on to check out my ideas, and give one or two a try.

Coral Makeup

Coral colours were all over the Spring runways, from Prada to Sonia Rykiel. Depending on how daring you’re feeling you can choose to use a coral nail colour, cheek tint, eye shadow, or if you’re really ambitious: lip colour. If you opt to go for a coral lip, the trick is to find a rich shade that complements your skin tone, and make sure it is matte colour. Finish with a translucent powder to hold the colour in place and squelch shine.

Bold, Bright Eyeliner

This is more of a party look than for everyday wear, but if you’re up for it, feel free. The trick is to find a creamy liquid liner in a bold shade, like white, or neon brights. Start at the outer corner of your eye and carefully line towards the inner corner. Gradually build the liner until it is as thick as you want. Finish with one thin line on the lower lash line, curl your lashes and apply two coats of a luxe, black mascara (or false lashes, if you’re heading out for the night) to really make the look pop.

Lavender Locks

As noted in College Fashion’s latest Would You Wear post, lavender hair has been popping up on runways and celeb heads for awhile now. Although a full dye job isn’t entirely practical (for your hair health, or your wallet) you can capture a little bit of this style in a few different ways. You can bleach one or two strands in the underside of your hair, and colour them lavender for a trendy take on some girly peekaboo highlights. Not sure how to handle the bleach? No worries, you can get some clip in extensions in a pale purple at either a beauty supply store, costume store, or even a kids’ accessory store. If this look is still too crazy for you, why not bring it into your look with some pretty lavender hair accessories? It’s a subtle way to interpret this couture beauty trend.
