For your big night out, why not try a daring new makeup look: the smoky eye!

This look is fun, sophisticated, and not as difficult as it seems. Read on to learn how to create a smoky eye with only a few shadows and one brush!

Materials:

  • Fluffy eyeshadow brush
  • Eyeshadow colors – light brown, white, light gray, gray, black

Instructions:

1. Sweep the light brown all over your lid.

2. Add a little white from the inner corner to the first half. Only up to the crease!

3. Put the light gray in the middle. Overlap it a bit on the white. Don’t worry if there’s a harsh line; this is fixed later.

4. Add the dark gray!

5. Finish it off with the black.

6. Add a little black shadow underneath the eye.

7. Blend it all together! Start at each “line” on your eye, and blend it gently into the darker color. (i.e., where the white meets the light gray, blend towards the light gray, and so on for each line.)

8. Top it off with eyeliner and mascara!

Once you’ve learned to create the perfect smoky eye, try different colors. Try creating a bronze smoky eye for a unique daily look, or different colors for game day!

Are you kidding me? That picture is purely artistic.

It’s not glorifying smoking. SMOKY EYES and smoke? Gee, there’s no correlation there.

    u mad Grace?

Uh, Alexis? Hate to burst YOUR bubble, but first of all, duh; and second of all, it doesn’t matter whether or not it’s real.

  3. avatar Alexis says:

    uh hate to burst your bubbles, but she’s not even blowing real smoke; that picture is completely photoshop-ed . (know how to do it myself) c;

Um, Jenna? Everyone has a problem with smoking. Even people who SMOKE have a problem with smoking, because it leads to terrible health complications. Please don’t act like Rin was picking on someone’s personal life choice. This isn’t something harmless.

It sounds like YOU obviously smoke and take it really personally when people disagree with it. Well, you better get used to it. Oh, and it isn’t creative at all. “Quick, we’re talking about smoky eyes and we need a graphic! I know! A girl blowing smoke! Genius!” Whatever. It glorifies smoking and makes it look glamorous.

Rin: You obviously have a problem with smoking and you need to keep your personal emotions to yourself. It does not concern you. It’s a very creative way of stating it and anyone with half a brain would be able to see that that is not her intention.

PS: Love this article. I have experimented with different ways of making a smokey eye, but have never tried this. Thank you :)

I like the post but I’m not a fan of that picture. It looks like you are promoting smoking.
