Whether you have dry hair or are just looking for a creative way to play with a new beauty routine, hair masks help restore both shine and moisture into your post-winter locks without harsh chemicals or expensive salon treatments. Plus, with mostly organic and yummy additives, it’s ok to snack on a few of the extra ingredients!

Honey, Oil, and Avocado Hair Mask

  • 1 avocado (make sure it’s ripe!)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

With these three ingredients, hair will instantly shine and be rehydrated. Simply blend all of them together, mashing the avocado, and apply it to your dry hair. If your hair has a tendency to build up grease, just put it on your ends or from your ears down to the ends.

For best results, pin up your hair and put a shower cap over it. Leave it in for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how thick your hair is, how damaged it is, or how intense of an effect you want, and then rinse.

Strawberry, Olive Oil, and Egg Hair Mask

  • Fresh strawberries, about 200 grams
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 egg yolk

Leaving your hair shiny and smelling amazing, this strawberry-based hair mask is a great way to hydrate limp and dry locks. Mash the strawberries, or blend them and add the olive oil and egg yolk into the mix.

Apply the mask to your hair at either just the roots or in full, and let sit for about 25 minutes, then rinse.

Olive Oil and Honey Hair Mask

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

The great thing about this hair mask is accessibility, olive oil and honey are easily found around the house and work wonders on your hair.

First, put the olive oil into a bowl and microwave it for about 15-20 seconds. Then, mix in the honey. This mixture works best when applied to damp hair, so wet your locks and then apply. Leave it on your hair for about 15 minutes, then rinse and follow with conditioner if desired.

This hair mask fits seamlessly into a regular shower routine – instead of doing a traditional shampoo, apply the mask onto damp hair and continue with shaving your legs or lathering up for about 15 minutes or so and then rinse.

Actually, to take care of your hair, there are a few simple and weird things you do.

The first isn’t very weird. Pantene shampoo is the best–I use it on my butt-length hair and it combs out in under a minute.

The second usually gets me a few odd looks. Use Dawn dish soap before you shampoo and condition your hair. I’m serious. Once a week, run it through and then run your shampoo through. It strips out the unnecessary oil, and then Pantene will clean up. It doesn’t make your hair dry or anything if you just do it once every week or two. And if you’re using Pantene, your hair probably won’t be dry anyway. :)
