summer sun

Summer is the perfect time to hang around with friends, chill by the pool, and enjoy the shining sun. It can also be the worst time for your skin. It’s easy to forget about your skin when you’re hanging out and enjoying yourself. Here’s some easy tips to help you take care of your skin while working on that gorgeous, glowing tan.

First off, and probably the most obvious, apply sunscreen. Look for one that has an SPF of at least 15. If you need something higher because you’re fair-skinned, go for it. Coppertone makes a tanning lotion that is 15 SPF. It’s not greasy or oily so it’s perfect to slather on and go. Make sure you apply a layer of sunscreen before you even get out into the sun. It’s very important that you put it all over you, including where your swimsuit covers. Clothes don’t provide much protection from UV rays and when the UV rays are at their highest, you want as much protection as you can get.

It’s easy to dress up sun protection too. Obviously, sunglasses are a must. And the cuter they are, the better. But when you’re seeking out your summer shades, be sure not to skimp out on a good pair just because of the price. Make sure you opt for something that is polarized, especially if you have light eyes. The sun can be extremely damaging to your eyes, which is even more dangerous for people with light eyes because they don’t have the pigment to help block out some of the UV rays like their dark-eyed counterparts. Don’t forget about hats though too! They are an adorable summer accessory. Try to find something that has at least a 4 inch brim to ensure that it’s providing you with actual protection. Polo has cute hats that are perfect for the beach and if you’re not a baseball hat kind of girl, cute sun hats are super easy to find.

Summer is a great time to get that gorgeous bronzed body but it’s also a prime time for sun damage to your skin which could lead to skin cancer over time. Be sure to take care of your skin, just like anything else. Apply sunscreen every wear, and protect your eyes and face! If you take good care of your skin, you can enjoy the summer sun all day long.
