With our busy, hectic, INSANE college schedules, many of us neglect our health. From the common annoying cold to a more serious illness, it is not unusual for college students to “brush off” health concerns. Whether it is because of tight schedules or… shyness and embarrassment, no one likes going to a Dr.’s office and not to mention most of us students lack a method of transportation to even get there!
There are many ways to stay healthy during a long semester so you don’t get sick! Some hassle free tips for staying healthy include: exercise, sanitizing your hands regularly, and the most important in my opinion, eating healthy. If you aren’t lucky enough to stay healthy, this brings me to the point of this article… Dr. On Demand. That’s right, it’s exactly how it sounds… a virtual Dr. available whenever and wherever you need them, and best of all, you don’t even need to leave the dorm!
What is Dr. On Demand?
Good question! Dr. On Demand allows you to have a virtual visit(s) with a Dr. at your convenience. Simply using any of your mobile devices, connect with a Dr. whenever any medical concerns arise. Not only is this totally convenient, it’s also very private, therefore everyone and their mother will no longer have to see you walking into a Dr.’s office! Oh… I forgot to mention the best part, there are NO wait times. You get to talk to a Dr. immediately, and as a college student, we all know every second of our time is precious.
What can they do?
Dr. on demand is able to help with minor medical issues that may seem irritating to spend hours and hours in the ER waiting room to see a Dr. For instance, without a hassle they can treat anything from allergies to the flu, migraines to sinus infections and other issues in-between. They are also able to provide you with a prescription, if needed, in 20 minutes or less! If you are unsure if they are able to help you with your medical issue, simply ask.
How does it work?
All you need to do is register at the Virtual Visits page here. It’s quick and easy and you can register anytime (be proactive, don’t just wait until you’re sick!). They also have two mobile apps that you can also access a Virtual Visit on! They are: Dr. On Demand and Amwell mobile apps. Anyone of these apps will take you 5 minutes or less to sign up with.
Registering for an account is also very simple. You can register the same way we register for an email account. An important step to not forget is entering your insurance information. This step is quick and ensures you will only have to pay $40 or less with your UnitedHealthcare plan. This step is a huge help for our already broke college bank accounts!
Well girls, this seems like a no brainer. Keep yourselves healthy and take advantage of this awesome opportunity! Let us know in the comments below how you manage to stay healthy during a long semester! #UHCvirtualvisits
