Hi ladies! Sorry for the sparse posting, I’m still trying to get into a routine for summer. But don’t worry, I have lots of ideas for great posts throughout the summer, and as always if you have any requests or ideas, just send me an e-mail at [email protected] or comment below and let me know. Today, I thought I’d share some ideas to make the most of your weekend. If you’re done exams, or just need a break, here is a list of fun or useful things to do today! Happy Weekend!

♥ If you’re interested in music, nature, art, or food…

why not take a look and see if there are any local festivals taking place in your area? You can start by checking out the local newspaper, or try going to festivals.com, where you can enter your location and find a whole list of festivals taking place near by. Even if it’s an hour or so away, it could be a fun excuse for a road-trip and a good opportunity to make some fun memories with your friends before you all head home for summer. This weekend alone, I found a blueberry festival in Tarpon Spring, FL, a Bavarian Spring festival in Leavenworth, WA, and a street fair in Princess Anne, MD. There’s bound to be something to catch your interest!

♥ Don’t forget about Mother’s Day, this Sunday…

Where would any college girl be without her Mom? If you can’t make it home, why not send Mom a nice bouquet to let her know you care, either by calling a hometown florist or ordering from an online service. If you will be home, and you’re tight for cash, sometimes an act means more than a store-bought gift. Cook your mom supper or breakfast, tackle her least favourite chores, or take her out shopping for a fun Spring outfit.

♥ Hit the mall and buy yourself a pair of cheapie flip-flops…

to complement a do-it-yourself pedi. Start by soaking feet in a bowl of warm water with a drop of olive oil to soften them up. Then, use a body scrub to exfoliate them (try my recipe). Trim your nails and cuticles before applying a fresh spring shade, like bright pink or a trendy taupe.

♥ Get ready for all the swimming you’ll be doing this summer…

by going to a local pool. Lots of gyms, community centres, and schools have free swim or open swim for a small fee. Get a group of friends together and have a quick swim. It’s lots of fun, good exercise, and will get you in a summer mood—just watch out for the kiddie pool.

♥ If the weather is not so fair…

sometimes it’s more fun to snuggle up inside with a good movie on a cloudy or rainy afternoon. I made a list of my top picks for girls’-night-in movies, or you could rent a new release you’ve been dying to see, like The Lovely Bones or It’s Complicated. Pop some microwave popcorn and grab your favourite movie treat from the corner store to give yourself a much deserved break.

♥ Sick of staying in?…

Why not have a night out with friends, but with a twist? Search the Yellow Pages in your area for martini bars, and then have all your friends dress up for a sophisticated night on the town. If you can swing it, have everyone pitch in for a town car or limo. If cash is tight, head out for one drink then come back home for a batch of the perfect cosmos.
