Just like with school, your job, or your love life, your beauty routine can also fall into a rut on occasion. Falling into a makeup or beauty rut is a lot less serious, so have no fear! Sometimes all it takes to inspire a new look is just by appreciating what you may already have.
Lay out and organize everything you have
By laying out an inventory of what you already have, you may discover some new shades or products you forgot you had or that may have fallen to the wayside. Find a product you haven’t worn in a while and work it into the routine you have!
Browse a beauty supply store
Stores like Ulta and Sephora are great because they have a range of products that you might not have found on your own. A great new lipgloss or blush could fall right into your lap and become a staple in your makeup bag. Stores like Mac are also great because they constantly get new products in.
Add a pop of color
Depending on how bold you want to be, add a pop of color into your routine! Whether it’s a colored eyeliner or mascara, or a bold lip shade, break out of your rut with something that really catches the eye. Summer is also a great season to try neons, as bright pinks and cobalt blues have been appearing on the runway more and more.
Emphasize a new feature
Have you gotten into the habit of showcasing your eyelashes with thick mascara, or letting your bone structure do the popping with contoured blush or bronzer? No matter what your daily routine is, freshen it up by picking a new facial attribute to emphasize. Your lips, eyebrows, eyelashes, or cheeks are a great way to let your best feature speak for itself.
Choose a different consistency
If you have been stuck on the same powder blush for awhile or the same matte foundation, switch up the consistency for a whole new look. Switch from powder to cream, or gel. The creamier or more liquid you go the more dewy your look will be, and the more powder you have the more matte your look will appear. Either way, switch it up for a whole new vibe.
